I'm moving to New Orleans in about a month. Are there a lot of Jalops in the region?

I think Alex is from LA.

You might be right. For some reason I thought he was visiting there.

Not me, but I love Nawlins.

I'm from the NOLA area (Northshore). I don't know if there are many others on here from the area.

Yeah I'd never noticed any before. I think I'll be on the Northshore, too. Still figuring some things out.

I live in Alexandria which is about 120 miles north. I love New Orlands, what part are you moving to?

Looking like Mandeville. I'd love to live in the city but it's a lot more expensive.

Mandeville is nice. Honestly downtown NOLA is one of the worse places to own a car. The crime is high, chances of someone running into it are high, there's a ton of traffic (though no where near as bad as Dallas or New York)! That being said! Awesome culture! AMAZING food! Lots of old mercedes for some reason! But you can experience the upsides by living in Mandeville without many of the downsides. Also if you aren't used to 70-90% humidity on a daily basis it might take you a week or two to adjust. If theres anything else you want to know about NOLA, don't hesitate to ask.

Living there now. I lived in Covington and Mandeville for about 7 years. I moved to Nola about 4 years ago and haven't left since.

Was there for the Pro Boy Festival last year. I ate so much I almost died but it was worth it.

Yeah we have just scanned craigslist looking at places uptown and it's not exactly cheap. You still get a lot more for your money than you do where I live now (coastal CA) but I am not expecting salaries to be the same so suburbs are fine with me. Not crazy about the idea of commuting but I have been spoiled the last 7 years - never lived more than 3 miles from the office.
My wife is actually from NO and her folks are in Mandeville now so I have a good idea what to expect. We got married down there, too, and have been back for Jazz Fest and Mardi gras a bunch of times.
I don't think I will ever get used to the humidity though. Thank god for air conditioning.
